License Exam Preparation Courses
The Canadian School of Private Investigation and Security Ltd. (CSPIS) offers Ministry
approved exam preparation courses for the Security Guard and the Private Investigator licenses. Our courses
are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS).
Our programs teach Ministry-targeted curriculum competencies and help students gain an understanding of
employer expectations in the real world.
Ontario Requirements
In 2001, the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services (MCSCS) undertook an effort
to modernize the licensing structure within the field of security and private investigation. This initiative
led to Bill 159, which resulted in the creation of the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005.
Today, every private investigator and security guard in the province of Ontario must undergo a minimum training
program as identified by the MCSCS and successfully pass a Ministry required testing regimen.
Our courses are specifically designed to surpass the MCSCS requirements!
Industry Growth
The private sector of law enforcement has undergone dramatic growth since 1967, when licensing requirements were first introduced in the province of Ontario.
In fact, private security is among the fastest growing career areas in Canada today. The security industry is expected to continue its dramatic growth well into the future.
Some of the jobs making up this dynamic field include: Security Guard, Canine Patrol Officer, Retail Loss Prevention Officer,
Airport Security, Private Investigator, and many related occupations.
These professions are identified as NOC code 6465 and include a wide range of protective services.
