How long does it take to get a PI license?
Basic training is 50 hours in duration and can be completed in as short as 6 days. Completing this course makes you eligible to take a Ministry exam. Once you pass your private investigator examination, you will apply to receive your license within 15 days.
What course options do I have for private investigation?
Basic training is an excellent foundation towards a private investigation career. The course will cover Ministry competencies for becoming a licensed private investigator. If you are interested in enhancing your skills and qualifications, you can move on to our advanced private investigation program.

What will the basic training course for private investigation cover?
The course will start by providing a necessary foundation to areas of Canadian law which a private investigator should know. Students move on to learning practical areas of investigation such as surveillance, process serving, evidence gathering and reporting. Interview skills, basic research and the regulations through which a private investigator is governed are also emphasized.
How can I get licensed as a security guard?
Security guard licensing starts with learning the basic skills necessary for employment as a guard. Once you complete basic training, you’ll move on to write a Ministry exam for security guards. Upon passing the exam, you can apply for a license.
